After catching them at their second live set ever, I have to admit that I was impressed by the locally-based trio of House of Blondes. “Shadows,” off their Clean Cuts album has the same stark, minimalist feel of Kraftwerk, and the dreamy ambient feel of Brian Eno — you’ll hear in the hazy guitars and feedback lurking just below the surface, and the electric clacking and clinking of the drum machine, and the wobbly, strangely psychedelic synthesizer line. And after repeated listens, I’ve also had Primal Scream’s “Autobahn 66” come to mind as well.
I’ve become obsessed with this track and I think you will too.
